A Family Vacation in North Carolina

May 11 was a big day... not only was it my first Mother's Day, but my little brother graduated from UNC Chapel Hill. Leila is very proud of her Uncle Kris (and so are the rest of us).

Leila has been developing her hand-mouth coordination quite a lot lately and drowns in drool just about anything she can get her hands on.

Lindsay got to meet Leila and we all enjoyed a brief but lovely visit. Leila says thanks for the new threads.

After three fun-filled family days with the Woodards in Raleigh (sorry, somehow the camera escaped a full photo shoot with Nana and Popo, but Popo was thrilled to meet his granddaughter for the first time, Nana was impressed by how much Leila had changed in the past 8 weeks since they last met, and Leila had plenty of smiles for everyone), David, Leila and I went Wrightsville Beach to soak up some sun, sand and salt water. Ahhh.

An evening stroll on the shore.

On the first day at the beach, Leila was overwhelmed by the sun and gusty wind. We purchased an umbrella, but it quickly took flight and sent us back to the hotel for shady poolside lounging. On day two, we got clever and brought out the Pack 'n' Play and she promptly settled into an afternoon nap.

She was a great traveler and continued to sleep well on the road despite the disruption of her comforts and schedule. But we are all happy to be back home.
