My, what a sharp nose you have...
No, Leila, the barn owl isn't a doll, but yes, it is so soft and cuddly.
While shopping at the outlet center, Leila took a ride with Snoopy and the Peanuts gang.
Leila has been doing such a great job on her new candida-busting diet and, in general, she's been a really good girl. As her reward, Leila chose to go on a trolley ride. As you can see, she is ecstatic. It's the best way to spend a quarter. She just loves public transportation (how appropriate, as mommy works on a white paper to justify the California high speed rail stop to serve Tulare and Kings Counties.)

Endangered animals, trollies and sushi
Mommy's work has brought home some new friends for Leila to hang out with: California badger, American avocet, great horned owl. She's been getting a wee bit possessive about these critters and isn't going to be happy when they have to return to the classroom from whence they came.
Leila was all smiles waiting to see the foot doctor last week. We're headed back tomorrow to get a casting of her foot for the inserts that she could be wearing for the next six years. I've finally found a doctor who can help with her in-toeing and knock knees. Next up: an orthopedic doctor. (By the way, this is her very favorite dress, compliments to Grandma Vaina. If it were up to Leila, I'd be doing laundry every day in order to keep this dress clean and available.)
Leila and I went out for sushi for the first time. I wasn't sure what to expect. She loved the chopsticks...
... and as it turns out, she loves raw fish, particularly raw salmon.
